World team ahead of Iran at Chess Star Cup

BANDAR ANZALI, Jul. 18 (MNA) – World team chess players managed to keep the lead against Iran in the seventh round of Chess Stars Cup underway in the Iranian Caspian port city of Bandar Anzali.

The Iranian chess squad conceded a defeat against the World team on the seventh day of the tournament while the games of Aleksey Dreev of Russia vs. Amirreza Pourramezanali, Ehsan Ghaem Maghami vs. Edouard Romain of France, Uzbekistan’s Jahongir Vakhidov vs. Shahin Lorpari as well as Jaan Ehlvest of the US vs. Alireza Firouzja all ended in ties.

Evgenij Miroshnichenko of Ukraine, Britain’s Nigel Short and Armenia’s Gabriel Sargissian pulled out wins against Iran’s Aryan Gholami, Pouya Idani and Sarasadat Khademalsharieh, respectively.

Also, Pouria Darini and Seyed Khalil Mousavi of Iran failed to power past the Chinese rival Lu Shanglei and Mikheil Mchedlishvili of Georgia, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Iranian chess player Parham Maghsoodloo continued his success trend by thrashing the Netherland’s Ivan Sokolov.

Accordingly, the seventh round of the sportive event came to an end with the overall result of 7-3 in favor of the World team.

The 1st Chess Stars Cup is being competed in Bander Anzali Free Zone, Iran from July 9th to 21st.
